|THE OLD TEAHOUSE GALLERY presents to the Gold Coast a genuine “ Olde World Charm” in keeping with the age of the old home.
Built just in the early 1900’s in Southport, Queensland for the notable Veivers family the home was moved to Springbrook from where it was re-located to Johns Road Mudgeeraba by the family of Vincent Gair – former premier of Queensland.
The home presents a selection of arts and crafts by local artisans which culminates in the “Xmas Craft Extravaganza “ every November, as well as period Australian furniture which was featured in a Queensland Homes magazine fifteen years ago.
Local art is represented in original form by artists such as Trevor Hill, Barbara Snellback, David Gunn, and in print form by artists such as D’arcy Doyle and commercial prints.
THE OLD TEAHOUSE GALLERY presents a delicious range of country cuisine for casual diners as well as functions such as weddings.
Open to the public Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays the menu extends from breakfast, thru morning coffee to lunch followed by afternoon teas.
Breakfast can consist of a choice of bacon, eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, sausage, toast, marmalade, tea or coffee – all freshly cooked and brewed or simply a fresh fruit platter with fresh orange juice, tea or coffee.
Lunch ranges from Sundays Roast, “Beef Pie in a Pot” Chicken Tikka, Vegetarian Lasagne, Vegetable Patties, Chicken Patties, Crab Cakes with choices of freshly cooked vegetables or locally grown salad.
All these may follow homemade soups, dips, garlic or herb bread and may proceed sticky toffee cake, chocolate fudge cake, lemon cake, with freshly whipped cream and ice cream.
A speciality of THE OLD TEAHOUSE GALLERY is their “High Tea Experience” which is reminiscent of quiet lazy days when family and friends enjoyed each others company while enjoying fresh food and delicious tea.
High Tea consists of a selection of dainty sandwiches of your choice such as smoked salmon, prawns, curried egg, smoked ham & relish, chicken & avocado.
Mini quiches with savoury fillings of bacon, mushroom, oven roasted vegetables.
Mini cakes such as chocolate muffins, lemon cake, chocolate chip – filled with delicious sauces and topped with cream.
Petit fours, continental chocolates.
The selection changes all the time but with 24 hours notice and groups of six or more you can make your own decision.
Gluten free items are available.
